Santa, Food Drive Highlights Lions Lunch in Chester

Annual event serves 150 holiday cheer.

On Saturday Dec. 8 the Chester Lions Club hosted their annual Lunch with Santa at the Chester Fire House.

The free community event welcomed 150 excited children and their parents to meet the guy in the big red suit. Children lunch included hot dogs, chips, cookies and juice. After lunch children and adults were entertained by magician Artie Miller, before the main event.

Highlighting the afternoon was a visit by Santa Claus direct from the North Pole. Santa and his helpers distributed toys and candy to all of the children who thoroughly enjoyed the festivities.

"The staff and Santa were all great and very kind," said member Jamie Goodrich. "Giving the children a gift was so generous and the girls loved their souvenirs from their visit. The magician was pretty funny for someone whose humor is admittedly a little dated."

According to Goodrich the magician cracked up everyone in the room.

In conjunction with this event the Chester Lions ran a food drive. Through the generosity of the participants, the club was able to donate 27 bags of groceries to the Chester Food Pantry.

Goodrich said special thanks was owed to the Chester Meat Market, Chester Burger King, and Sam’s Club of Flanders for donations to help make the event possible.
