'No Timetable' For Power Restoration

After telling those with no power the majority of outages would be repaired by 6 p.m. on Monday, some JCP&L customers are finding out they may have to wait much longer.

Th automated message, note on their web site and responses from representatives have been uniform since the end of the storm Sunday night that ripped through the center of Morris County.

Crews are working to restore power to all affected areas as quickly and safely as possible. It is expected the majority of customers should be restored today Monday June 11, 2012 by approximately 6:00 p.m. with the remaining throughout the evening.

But for the nearly 1,000 customers without power as Monday evening turned into Tuesday morning, the new messaging was not encouraging.

"Due to the number of outages we have there really is no way to tell how long power will be out," said a customer service representative from JCP&L. "We really have no timetable on how long it will take to get power back."

Roads in and out of Mendham still are closed off with downed trees and wires where crews haven't even been sent yet.

"We need to wait for other utilities to mark their lines before we work sometimes," the JCP&L representative said.
