Hurrricane Sandy Forces Halloween Reschedule

Officials say postponement being done for safety reasons.

For the second year in a row, kids are going to have to wait a little longer to get their sweet fix.

Hurricane Sandy has forced the postponement of Halloween, at least in Mendham Township and Mendham Borough.

"We are postponing it to a later date due to safety reasons," said Mendham Township Police Lieutenant Vito Abrusci.

Mendham Borough has locked down their new date for Halloween as Saturday, Nov. 3 according to police chief Pat Libertino.

"We're moving it for the safety of the kids," Libertino said. "We're going to have trick or treating Saturday."

In Chester Township, officials were considering a similar step and Chief Wayne Martini said they were eyeing the weekend as a possible replacement trick or treat night.
