Burned Chester Bagel Owner Gets Community Support

Henry Delgado is recovering from an injury and friends are asking for help to lift his spirits.

When Chester resident Buddy Wachsmuth heard that Henry Delgado, owner of "everyone's beloved hunger-quenching, hangover-curing breakfast place Chester Bagel," had been involved in a "most unfortunate" kitchen accident, he wasted no time in reaching out to help.

And what began as a quick social media campaign has quickly begun to pick up steam. According to Wachsmuth, Delgado was burned in an accident.

"He was burned pretty badly," Wachsmuth posted on his Facebook page. "He is currently in the hospital, and although he may be released soon, he has a long, difficult road of recovery ahead of him."

Wachsmuth said that everyone knows Delgado as "a very kind man who is always a delight to see when you arrive there to get food."

So Wachsmuth is asking that people send e-mail well wishes to him so that he can bring them to Delgado as he recovers from his injury.

"I know it would mean the world to him if we, his fans, would all make some sort of effort to show him we care and appreciate all the work he does," Wachsmuth said. "Because we can't all pass around a giant card and sign it 'get well soon' like we did in third grade, I figured it would be best if whoever wanted to could send me an e-mail."

Wachsmuth would like to share with Delgado customer's well wishes and experiences at Chester Bagel.

"Something addressed to him that would share a favorite experience or story or something from a time at Chester Bagel, as well as a 'get well soon' of sorts," Wachsmuth said. "Once I receive the emails I'll package them up and deliver them to him myself."

Wachsmuth said he plans to organize the e-mails in a "book-like format that Delgado could look at while he recovers.

"He could read it and cheer himself up," Wachsmuth said. "I've got about 30 emails so far, and I'm promised roughly 100 more."

Wachsmuth said that he intends to visit Delgado in the hospital on Friday, so he is looking to get as many submissions as he can by Thursday.

"I'm just a 19-year-old kid trying to raise our beloved Henry's spirits a little bit," Wachsmuth said.

Those interested can send Wachsmuth an e-mail at ernstwachsmuth@gmail.com.
