Reduce E-Waste, Help Those With Disabilities

Green Vision Inc., a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) tax exempt program that teaches adolescent students and adults with autism how to properly dismantle and recycle unwanted electronics, is holding an electronic recycling program this week in Chester. Each year Americans discard over 400 million units of e-waste. Less than 12 percent is being recycled.

Residents can bring electronic devices (anything with a plug that is not a refrigeration unit) to the Chester Township DPW Garage located at 65 Furnace Road Chester Township this week.

The DPW will be accepting donations Monday, Nov. 26 to Friday, Nov. 30 from  8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Green Vision challenges students with tasks that allow them to use problem solving skills while dismantling a wide variety of devices. As the e-waste is being taken apart, our students sort the materials so that they can be recycled. Green Vision is 99.7 percent landfill free, and all of our recyclable materials go to federally licensed facilities. Not only is Green Vision providing a service to students by giving them meaningful job skill training, but they are also providing an environmentally sound "green" solution to the local community.
