Robinson Drug Hosts Health Seminars in Mendham Boro

The Mendham Borough Council last week approved the use of the Garabrant Center to John Kim, the owner of Robinson Drug Shop, so that the pharmacist would have a venue to host informational seminars for residents.

“I personally think it is the good use for the community. As far as I understand it there isn’t going to be a charge for this. As long as it is free for the public and there is no charge for attendance,” said council member Brad Badal.

The council agreed to allow Kim to use the space as long as there was no cost being passed on to the residents.

“If it is free I would support it,” Badal said. “Otherwise we would get into problems like we’ve had with other organizations.”

The council agreed to allow Kim to set up shop in the Garabrant Center once a month for a period of six months.

For his part, Kim said he was happy to have the chance to get to know the community better.

“Our first talk will on Hormone Therapy,” Kim said. “The date is set for May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Garabrant Center.”

Kim said check in time for the seminar will be 5:45 p.m. and residents are encouraged to register by April 30 because seating will be limited.

Kim is a compounding pharmacist who has brought with him to Mendham a wave of new initiatives that are going to bring the cutting edge to the more than century-old drug store.

A native of Bayone, Kim received his Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University and had worked in Chatham and Westfield before deciding to purchase the 143-year-old Robinson.

Kim will be joined by Dr. Audrey Prefer, MD, FACOG. Prefer is an Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist with an office in Mendham.
