Mendham Teen Dancers Take on 'The Nutcracker' at Kean University

Two girls will perform six different roles in three performances this December.

Two teens from Mendham will join world-renowned dancers in this season’s production of “The Nutcracker” at the Wilkins Theatre at Kean University, according to a press release from the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble.

Alessandra DePaolantonio and Abigail Frasco, both 16, will take part in the holiday classic for three performances on Dec. 14 and 15 at the northern New Jersey college.

DePaolantonio, a Mendham High School junior, and Frasco, a sophomore there, will play the roles of six characters between them.

DePaolantonio will be a Mouse Queen and Arabian, and Frasco will appear as a Dew Drop, Columbine, Lead Marzipan and Arch Angel.

This is the 43rd annual production of The Nutcracker by the NJDTE, the statement said, and will include performers Christina Dooling, Mark Caserta, Rosemary Sabovick-Bleich, Joseph Fritz, Bradley Shelver, Ricardo Zayas and Darwin Black.

Performances will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, followed by a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15.
