The New Jersey Youth Chorus, an auditioned community-based choral music education program, is planning to add a boys’ ensemble to its program. This ensemble, for boys in grades 5-8 with unchanged voices, will be led by Matthew LaPine. This ensemble will be the only community youth chorus for boys in the state of New Jersey.

As an introduction to NJYC's male-voice programs, you are cordially invited to attend "Guys and Guests" day on Monday, April 28 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Delbarton School’s Performing Arts Center, 230 Mendham Road, in Morristown. Boys who are currently in grades 4-11 will come together to meet other guys their own age who like to sing, and want to be part of a wonderful choral ensemble.

Free pizza dinner, drinks, and desserts will be served to all boys who attend. If you have any questions, or wish to make a reservation to attend, please contact Brent Barkey, Chorus Administrator, at admin@njyouthchorus.org or (973) 998-5670.

A community youth chorus for boys provides a fun and supportive environment for males to develop their voice as it naturally changes. According to Mr. LaPine, “We are confident that this group will provide the support that young boys need to keep singing as a vital part of their lives. Around the country, the number of singers in male-only ensembles is growing exponentially. Mr. LaPine also directs the Youth Chorus’ Young Men’s Ensemble, which is for male singers in grades 7 – 12 whose voices are changing or have changed. Pictured above is our Young Men's ensemble that performed at Carnegie Hall.

We truly believe that this new ensemble will help to revitalize the study of singing among boys in our area.” Performances will include formal and informal concert performances, singing at professional sporting events, and collaborations with other top-tier choral ensembles.
