Ralston Engine Co. #1 is an all-volunteer public fire department, comprising half of the fire and rescue services for Mendham Township (along with Brookside Engine Co.). It has one primary station, and is responsible for the protection of about 2,000 people in an eight-square-mile residential area. The station has three fire truck bays and a First Aid Squad ambulance. The department can be reached at 9-1-1 for emergencies. It was founded in 1947, and always welcomes individuals who want to support the organization or become members, offering training, junior programs and jobs in a variety of different capacities.
