3rd Annual Comedy Night
16 Eagle Rock Ave, East Hanover, NJ | Get Directions »
$85.00
There will be plenty of laughs for a serious cause at the third annual Comedy Night to benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown, known as “Sam’s NICU,” on Friday, April 27, 2012.
Opened in Fall 2008, “Sam’s NICU,” tripled the size of the unit that treats the smallest, most vulnerable newborns. In addition to offering a larger physical space to meet a growing demand for neonatal critical care, the new unit introduced a design that is intimate and nurturing and provides greater opportunities for parents to care for their babies. The NICU offers a combination of 34 private and semi-private rooms, which are designed to accommodate one or two infants. Some suites are large enough to accommodate triplets or quadruplets so multiple birth families are able to stay together.
“Sam’s NICU,” is named in memory of Samantha Marie Salzberg, the daughter of East Hanover resident Steve Salzberg. Born in 1987, Samantha was transferred to a New York City hospital to be treated for a heart problem when she was 18 hours old. She developed an infection that claimed her life seven weeks later. Steve Salzberg believes she would be alive if she had been able to remain at Morristown Medical Center.
The event will include an extensive buffet dinner and dessert. Beer, wine and hors d’ouevres will be served during the cocktail hour. In addition to the comedy, there will be live music.
The comedians appearing on stage at the show are well-known stand-up comedians, who have appeared nationally on television shows such as Late Night with David Letterman and the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson:
- Andy Pitz (http://andypitz.com/) – A Buffalo, NY native, Andy has been doing standup for over 20 years. He does, “clean,” and “not-so-clean” comedy, and is also featured regularly on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio's Laugh USA Clean Comedy Station, channel 96.
