The Embarrassed Republican: Romney Bombs Europe!

A lot of party heads are shaking today, very few are smiling. “Mitt the Twit” was not the headline the Romney campaign hoped for, and that was one of the kinder ones.

The current thinking is well summed up by Ed Rodgers, a long time Republican Operative “Let’s face it, Romney can’t win, but Obama can lose.” If he can just get through the next 3 months without opening his mouth, Governor Romney may just have a chance for a tie.  Being his own worst enemy, I’m pretty sure Mitt is not looking forward to the debates.

In England, he criticized the olympic preparations because he’s an Olympic expert right?  The rest of us will never really know about his expertise because somehow all the records from the Salt Lake city olympics were destroyed right after they closed. Massachusetts can tell us that records have a habit of dissapearing when Mr. romney leaves.  Campaign aides assure us that the destruction of those internal communications and other records was not Mr. Romney’s responsibility.  Nor for that matter were the workings of his company Bain capital during the same time, although he did manage to draw a hefty salary.

During his visit to England Mitt also managed to leak his secret meeting with the Head of MI6, a kind of farewell flub before leaving for Israel.  That visit really didn’t go that well either, the Palestinians called him a racist, he inflamed local tensions even more (if that’s possible) between Israel and the rest of the Arab world and then finished up with a few astounding statements.

At a special dinner for wealthy contributors Mitt remarked that “Culture and a few other things” were responsible for Israel’s economic power.  He lavished praise on Israel’s low health care spending which he may not have understood is socialized. The former Governor closed with noting that Israel’s per capita income was more than twice as high as the Palestinian’s and they should be proud of that.  I find it difficult to believe that our candidate doesn’t know that Palestine, what’s left of it, is an occupied territory.  After quickly recommending that Jerusalem should be the capital of Israel, and promising to move the American embassy there, he was off to Poland to try his presidentially hopeful wiles on them.  Luckily, most of Israel was mystified but only vaguely insulted.

Poland wasn’t too bad.  Lech Walesa gave the candidate a pep talk on being successful and they shook hands smiling all the while.  That was in Union country too, the Gdansk shipyards is where the Solidarity movement was born.  Solidarity's current leadership was not as pleased as Lech seemed to be.  They reported in the press later that they had since regretted learning of Mr. Romney’s attacks on the 12 million workers of the AFL-CIO and roundly criticized the meeting.  I’m pretty sure Mr. Walesa will be ok though.

We lucked out that the Govenor did not take the opportunity to call Poland’s neighbor the Soviet Union “America’s greatest geo-political threat” again.  I’m sure the Polish would just as soon let that sleeping bear lie, one revolution every hundred years is plenty.

All in all, the campaign aides were glad the trip was over, you can only use the words “Vastly misconstrued”  and deny what just took place 5 minutes ago for so long.  The Romney campaign is home now, and really glad that only one percent of Americans called foreign policy the most important issue of the campaign.  All the Polish voters in Wisconsin and other states weren’t going to vote for him anyway.

Poland was not too bad, England is used to bombings, but was Israel a success?  Mitt sure wanted it to be.  But it’s hard to beat a President who’s given more to Israel in aid and support than any other in history.  Still he did manage to scrape up some more wealthy contributors and no one actually threw anything at him.  I just wonder what’s going through his dinner guests' minds right now.  I guess they’re hoping that Mitt will deliver whatever it is they want from him.  That probably doesn’t include advice on international politics.

Why do you think U.S. Senator Edward M. (Ted) Kennedy has moved his entire personal estate assets to an offshore trust located in Tortola, BVI? Possibly because BVI has no estate or death tax? Kennedy has few personal assets in the U.S. The family pays an annual rent (to cover property taxes, insurance, maintenance, operations, etc.) to his BVI trust for his considerable luxury compounds located in Martha's Vineyard, Palm Beach and elsewhere. I am a man of modest means, but when we both die I suspect my death tax bill will be larger than his.

The man has been President for close to 3 and half years. You can vote for him or choose not to vote for him, but he doesn't have to show you anything else. Mitt on the other hand needs to meet the standard set by all of his predecessors and release more tax returns.

By not releasing his transcripts, Obama has not met the standard set by other candidates.

He was an admitted slacker and drug user at Occidental, yet somehow he gained a scholarship to Columbia, where he was a virtual unknown. He then magically was admitted to Harvard Law and became editor of Law Review, despite never having published a thing, or being recalled as beyond ordinary.

In retrospect Obama's lack of scholarship foreshadowed his complete failure as President. It is quite clear what he is hiding.

I have no idea how the President got a scholarship to Columbia. Maybe it was based on merit. I got a full scholarship to a service academy, based on a nationwide competition. You probably think because I'm black I got into good schools based on affirmative action as well.

Even more critical is the Romney release of the fact that he met with MI6. It will cast along shadow over trusting Romney with other intell if he couldn't even hold this back. The simple fact is that he failed in 3 different countries. Poland's labor movement had more to do with the breakup of the old USSR than Reagan and Romney and his party hates unions. He stood and praised Israel's healthcare system without knowing it is Government run and even has a mandate. England goes without saying and jingoistic Americans who think that the respect of other leaders isn't important ought to think back to George W. Bush's joke of a "coalition of the willing." Telling the Palestinians they have an inferior culture is just the icing on the cake as was his racist remark about sharing Anglo-saxon beliefs with England. This man is much more confortable lording over a Board Room of like minded cutthroats deciding the future of workers he will never have to face. The President has to think about all Americans and what the result will be as to their lives. Romney has never thought once about such things.

It’s very simple.

The President's "you didn't build that" comment referenced the fact the private sector didn’t build the infrastructure that transports workers and goods. Nor did it build provide the primary education system where many employees initially gain skills to their jobs. These advantages are provided by the public sector and thus are in line with the President's comment correctly stating private industry "didn't build that."

Wrong-O. The following seems pretty clear, the campaign's attempt to walk it back notwithstanding, "If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Even if you go with the theory that Government made it all possible, who's already paying for over half of the cost of the US and state governments . . . the RICH! Ergo, the Rich really are responsible for their own success.

And lest we forget, remember this other recent BO doozy - "the private sector is doing just fine." And the Obama campaign is trying to make Romney into Mr. Gaffe?

Obama is O-fer the Summer.

Comment_arrow

Kevin Nedd

5:29 am on Thursday, August 2, 2012

The campaign isn't trying to walk anything back. The President's full quote is as follows:

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.”

A five year old could tell the "that" in his 5th sentence was in reference to things he mentioned in the previous sentences related to education and infrastructure. He wasn't referencing someone's business.

The fact Mitt chose to put out ads that selectively edited what the President said says a lot more about Mitt than it does about the President. Perhaps this is why Mitt is trailing in virtually all of the swing states.

To 1819 and KMN,
As I understand it, individual states determine a felon's right to vote. There are several states e.g. Florida, where felons are not allowed to vote. Voting is investing in the future of your country, influencing its well-being. My belief is that after a person has served his time and made reconstitution, he should be allowed to participate in the rights and responsibilities of society. What purpose is served in doing otherwise? For example, think about a 20 yr old who steals a car, or maybe money from his employer. Do you really think he should continue to be ostracized when he is 70, even if he's made restitution and has lived a decent life in between?

Here’s another favorite Willard quote, “I don’t care about poor people.” Remember that one? Why should he, he’s got so much money he can’t even keep it here in the United States! Yep, another good repug “job creator” creating jobs in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and Switzerland! Fess up Mittens, let’s see those tax returns, even the right wing whack jobs in your own party and National Review say you’re going have to sooner or later.

Hello Prentiss (C&F days!)... I didn't think he embarrassed the Israeli's - but the Palestinians. In both cases - Olympics and Palestinians = he was directionally correct. Yet he needs to know how to moderate his response.

BUT why not be an embarrassed democrat - whereas the President and esp. his VP have made many gaffe's both home and abroad. Why it is about Romney?

As for Taxes - I am satisfied that he has released his taxes... people know he is wealthy and they know he had an offshore (so did the head of the DNC - and am sure many others)... It is just a way to distract from the real message on jobs & economy....

There’s a difference between making silly verbal gaffes, like saying that there are 57 states (or the hundreds of ‘Bushisms’ that GWB uttered), and making statements that show the true nature of your thinking, like saying that London is not ready for the Olympics, or that Israel is prosperous because of their cultural superiority.

As far as Romney’s taxes go, it is also a distraction that he refuses to release them (especially since his father set the example of releasing 10 years of his own). If nothing more will be garnered about Romney through their release, then why does he continue to refuse???

See, we are supposed to believe that all this talk about a person's financial worth is more important than their ability to do the job, because the current job holder has done such an incredibly poor job that there are only two explanations for such performance -- incompetence or intentional misguidance. Neither of those speaks too well of the current officeholder, so the Dems keep the focus on ANYTHING BUT the economy, the lack of jobs, the green scandals, the extraordinary spending of the GSA -- I could go on. So as I read this string, I have to say I am not surprised at the number of "Obama Lovers". In case you haven't figured it out, this entire enterprise is another Obama re-election vehicle. I fell for the concept of a local website too, but as soon as I started saw the prominence of features like 'the embarassed republican', it became obvious I had signed on to another rag with a political agenda. If you are one of the many "anyone but Obama" Republicans, I don't agree and I think it demeans us as a party and as voters to think that way. The President has done a few things I don't like at all, but a lot more things I do like than I ever suspected possible. He's a centrist, in most respects, and we need a lot more of that right now. If the benefits you are receiving are greater than the taxes you are paying, by definition you are a freerider (or freeloader).

As for the gas tax, in NJ, they aren't even covering the cost of current road construction or repair. They are simply going to pay debts run up by the last half dozen governors.

And the famous Payroll Taxes that Liberals keep harping on were supposed to be covering their eventual retirement costs, but we all know that FICA and Medicare taxes are simply going back out the door to cover current retirees.

The whole Freeloader myth is based on what you might call the Mrs. Romney Myth of "You people" because the simple truth is that average people are considered of lower stock than the wealthy. speaking at the Olympic Park, Mr Cameron insisted Britain had to take the chance to show off the country and be proud now that the Olympics are beginning.

LONDON — Hoping to quell controversy after large swaths of seats appeared unfilled, London Olympic organizers said British troops and schoolchildren had been given free tickets Sunday to fill many of the vacant rows.
Britain's Home Secretary says the government was warned last month about Olympic security manpower issues -- far earlier than has previously been admitted.

Olympic security has been in crisis after contractor G4S made the last-minute admission that it hadn't recruited enough people to guard London's sensitive games sites.

The development forced officials to call in the military to fill the gap, embarrassing ministers who had earlier insisted that everything was on track for the games, which begin July 27.

In a letter to an opposition lawmaker, Home Secretary Theresa May wrote that she was told of a "possible temporary shortfall" in staffing numbers by G4S as long ago as June 27.

The UK was ready for the Olympics

The biggest overseas ticketing agency for the London 2012 Games has been besieged by complaints after hundreds of buyers were forced to wait in queues for more than six hours on Monday and others received groups of tickets that were not seated together.

Tens of thousands of ticketholders are failing to show up to Olympic events, organisers admitted last night.

On the second day of competition, up to 14 per cent of those who obtained tickets – some 67,000 – did not bother to attend.

On other days, the stayaways amounted to an equally disturbing 58,000 and 50,000 – meaning the average no-show figure is nearly 60,000.

following the failure of private contractor G4S GFS.LN -0.36% PLC to provide enough security guards.
The deployment of the 1,200 troops means 12,200 U.K. military personnel will guard Olympic venues.

Looks like they are. Why do empty seats equate to the UK not being ready? They sold or gave away all the tickets it's just that 14% of those who have tickets aren't using them. It's an unexpected problem, they happen.

Simon Danczuk, the MP for Rochdale, said: ‘When I hear that corporate hospitality tickets are going to waste and companies are not using them, it’s an insult to hard-working people who have applied unsuccessfully and desperately wanted to go and take their place in the stadium and cheer on Great Britain.’

Looks like they are on it now though. They are taking tickets back by the thousands and re-selling them or giving them to people who will use them.

1948: The Great Truman Surprise

New York Times declared, “Thomas E. Dewey’s Election as President is a Foregone Conclusion.” Top pollsters predicted a Dewey win, as did leading national political writers. In fact, with the exception of Truman, everyone else was certain Dewey would be elected. Months before the election, Life ran a cover of a picture of Dewey with a caption that read, “The Next President of the United States.” Headline after headline screamed Dewey as President.

Senate Democrats lashed out at the Obama administration on Wednesday, saying its stimulus wind energy program creates jobs overseas instead of in the U.S., and they're calling for the administration to put a stop to it.

"Today, we are demanding the Obama administration suspend this program immediately," said Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

The program has already spent $2 billion, funding enough projects to power 2.4 million homes. Any wind farm created in the U.S. is eligible for stimulus money to put up wind turbines, regardless of where those massive structures are made. Each turbine costs about $3 million, and reaches 40 stories into the sky.

An investigation by ABC News and the Investigative Reporting Workshop found that 79 percent of the program's money has gone to foreign companies, money that Schumer said was "federal tax dollars, the stimulus, which was sold as jobs in America."

The senators are especially alarmed about a project highlighted by ABC News in West Texas that uses turbines manufactured in China. The Texas wind farm is eligible for up to $450 million in stimulus funds.

Most everything "green" is made in China these days, because the Chinese government underwrites those industries. They got the jump on us in wind turbines and solar panels, that's the fault of American business. We developed these technologies and then didn't pursue them. The Chinese see the opportunity are are serious about exploiting it. We, on the other hand, got (and continue to be ) lost in a battle defending fossil fuels. Therefor it doesn't suprise me at all that the wind turbines mostly come from china, they make the most economical equipment. The majority of the comments are made by people who are afraid to use their names, why I can’t figure that out.

Someone should make a collection of all of these comments and in the future, if we have one; allow people to see just how divided we were, how much we really didn’t trust one another.

How as Americans we focused on petty personality likes and dislikes of our Presidential candidates. Never focusing on the important issues; jobs, climate change and how before our eyes it is affecting our county, education and why America is not number 1 any longer. We are no longer cohesive in our approach to the future of our county. Until “we” get back to unity of America we will continue to decline regardless of who is in the White House.

You can stand on Patch and post away but if you can spend $100 Million on a message of hate chances are you will win, unfortunately.

Romney's economic plan starts with energy independence. Remove burdensome regulation from businesses, low tax rates. And relinquish power to the states.
Romney will also give waivers to all 50 states to STOP Obama-care.

Basically Romney's plan is to REVERSE Obama's rationed energy NO GROWTH green agenda.

The number of jobs that Obama has claimed he "created" don't even cover the number of new employees who have come into the workplace in the last two years. Overall, the percentage of people working is almost 10% lower than it was through the last decade before the crash - http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LNS12300000.

That's why this is the worst economic recovery ever, and it can all be laid at the feet of the President. He's more worried about expanding entitlements, and bolstering public sector employment, than he is reviving America's economy. And no Dan, that isn't "hate,' it's a FACT.

Over the past 26 months, the economy has created 4.5 million private sector jobs. That is a fact. Unfortunately we lost more than this amount in the final six months of the Bush administration. Given the size of the hole left by GWB, its not hard to figure out why the percentage is where it is.

Tom,

Here is a pretty good summary on why GDP is at 1.5%:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/28/business/economy/us-economy-expands-at-1-5-rate.html?pagewanted=all

The 8% unemployment figure is a result of the steep job losses that began in the last year of the Bush presidency which carried over before the current president's policies, which have added 4.5 million jobs over the past 26 month, took effect. When you factor in the impact of new job seekers into the market, it's not hard to see why we are at 8%.

But here is a more important question for you...if the economy is doing so poorly, why is Mitt getting killed in the swing states that will ultimately determine the election? Why isn't he walking away with the election? While the answer is simple, I'm sure it's a bitter pill for you to swallow.

Were talking about Obama's economic policies, stimulus & deficit spending, are not strong enough to grow GDP. Which was point my to you in the first place...

And now I ask you; why are you so willing to put up with such a poor performance from Obama? Your'e an intelligent man, Why wouldn't you want to see 3% 4% 5% 6% growth form this administration? Why are you settling for second best and making excuses for Obama?

Tom,

Once again you failed the 5 year old test. Predictively you zeroed in on the symptoms of low GDP growth as opposed to understanding the root cause, which has a lot to do with a lack of consumer spending due to the residual effects of the slow recovery of the housing market. Now I realize you tune pianos for a living which doesn't require much intellect, so perhaps further discussion on this topic is futile.

g

4:39 pm on Friday, August 3, 2012

Why should anyone blame Democrats for the housing finance crisis?

Because they laid virtually all the landmines that would eventually explode in the first place, and then they wouldn’t allow Republicans to reform or even regulate the impending disaster before it occurred, that’s why.

From the New York Times in September 30, 1999:

“Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits. . . .

Under Clinton, bank regulators have breathed the first real life into enforcement of the Community Reinvestment Act, a 20-year-old statute meant to combat “redlining” by requiring banks to serve their low-income communities. The administration also has sent a clear message by stiffening enforcement of the fair housing and fair lending laws. The bottom line: Between 1993 and 1997, home loans grew by 72% to blacks and by 45% to Latinos, far faster than the total growth rate.

Lenders also have opened the door wider to minorities because of new initiatives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–the giant federally chartered corporations that play critical, if obscure, roles in the home finance system. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac buy mortgages from lenders and bundle them into securities; that provides lenders the funds to lend more. . .

Continued from above:

Another article in the New York TImes from September 11, 2003:

The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. . . .

This reform – and another in 2005/06 – were blocked by Democrats who threatened to filibuster the bill in the Senate.

In that 2003 New York Times article, we find the extent of Republicans’ concerns, and of Democrats’ intransigence:

Fannie Mae, which was previously known as the Federal National Mortgage Association, and Freddie Mac, which was the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, have been criticized by rivals for exerting too much influence over their regulators.

”The regulator has not only been outmanned, it has been outlobbied,” said Representative Richard H. Baker, the Louisiana Republican who has proposed legislation similar to the administration proposal and who leads a subcommittee that oversees the companies. ”Being underfunded does not explain how a glowing report of Freddie’s operations was released only hours before the managerial upheaval that followed. This is not world-class regulatory work.”

If your point is that the economic crisis was caused by "bad loans" you're a bit off track. That added to it but the actual proximal cause was trading in bundled loans and buying credit default swaps as insurance. Unregulated derivative trading without sufficient understanding of what was being sold, by both buyers and sellers, caused the crisis. Blaming people who got subprime loans is a lot of baloney. But I'm glad to see your research, that bodes well for you.

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich critiques President Obama’s handling of the economic crisis and the Clinton administration’s repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, a key deregulatory move that ended the separation of commercial and investment banking and is widely seen as having helped lead to the financial collapse.

Economist Robert Kuttner has criticized the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act as contributing to the 2007 subprime mortgage financial crisis.

I should never have expected someone who tunes pianos for a living (a job that clearly doesn't require a college degree) to understand basic macroeconomic principles and comprehend a well written NYT article on what actually impacts GDP growth. Here are a few root causes from the article you failed to grasp:

"A slowdown in household spending is still hampering economic growth. Consumers increased their savings rate, a sign of increased uncertainty about the future. Governments also continued to cut spending. Exports accelerated in the second quarter despite more recent signs of diminishing demand, but the gain was canceled out by a larger increase in imports, which count against the gross domestic product. Economists expect exports to shrink as the dollar rises against other currencies, making American goods less competitive."

In honor of your profound ignorance, please continue to "LMAO" and enjoy your limited income potential.

Apparently, you just love what Obama is doing to the country:

Barack Hussien Obama is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Hussien Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.

Obama's game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival ... and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.

Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go?
It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions).

A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America.

Democrats are the party of hatred. It is in their DNA:

Democrats enacted a century of "Jim Crow" laws, and the Ku Klux Klan was a Democrat invention to win by terror what they could not win through politics or war.

The South was solidly Democrat for a century, due not only to Jim Crow laws enacted to disenfranchise Blacks, but political terrorism practiced against anyone, Black or Republican, who dared to vote against the wishes of the entrenched Southern Democrat political Machine.

1865-1877: Over 3000 Freedmen and their Republican Party allies were killed by a combination of the Ku Klux Klan and well-organized campaigns of violence by local whites in a campaign of terrorist violence that overthrew the reconstructionist governments in the American South and re-established segregation.

Glenn Greenwald wrote about the Obama administration's "presidential assassination program," whereby American citizens are targeted for killings far away from any battlefield, based exclusively on unchecked accusations by the Executive Branch that they're involved in Terrorism.

The following week, Obama's Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, acknowledged in Congressional testimony that the administration reserves the "right" to carry out such assassinations.

GIGI :

The President’s media apologists are attempting to carry water for Obama and shift the blame for the budget mess squarely at the feet of President George W. Bush. Specifically, they argue that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the tax cuts of 2001 and 2003, and the recession are all to blame for today’s deficits. It’s an argument we heard before from Obama since the days of his campaign, and it’s an argument that is as flawed today as it was then. One simple number explains it well: the budget deficit figure in 2007, the last Bush year prior to the recession. The tax cuts were in full effect, both wars were raging, and the recession had not yet struck, yet the budget deficit in 2007 was $160 billion, or about a tenth of Obama’s deficit this year.

No debt ceiling plan of their own.

No leadership from their President.

No jobs.

No economic growth.

It seems the only thing Democrats are capable of these days is doing nothing. And killing any and every idea that comes from Republicans.

And whining. A lot!

So President Obama and the Democrats were given carte blanche to fix the mess the country was in.

But rather than fix it, they have made things worse in their quest for absolute and eternal power.

A wholly unpopular ObamaCare bill was shoved down the throats of a public overwhelmingly against it.

Obama in Dream of my father: AN ADMITTED DRUG ADDICT!

"I had learned not to care. I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.

In high school, Obama, according to his yearbook photo, was part of the "Choom Gang." Chooming was Hawaiian slang for smoking pot.

THIS IS JUST TOO FUNNY:

How many states? Barack Obama made a more elementary flub when, during the 2008 campaign, he said: “I've now been in 57 states—I think one left to go.''

Abraham Lincoln: Obama identified Abraham Lincoln as the founder of the Republican Party.

Lincoln did not join the Republicans until 1856, over two years after the party was founded. The first Republican convention was held in Ripon, Wisconsin in 1854.

STATUE OF LIBERTY: Obama does it again. Not only does he blow a line from Emma Lazarus‘ famous poem called Obama claimed that Emma Lazarus was

“inspired by what she saw and heard, she wrote down her thoughts and donated a piece of work to help pay for the construction of a new statue – the Statue of Liberty which actually was funded in part by small donations from people across America.”

A little problem with Obama’s statement. It’s blatantly incorrect. According to the National Park Service, the Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France. Something you learn about in Elementary School (even those infested with progressive teachers)

Bush's brain was in an alcohol jar. He was so demented by the time he was 40 that he could barely complete a sentence. Republican's were treasonous in hoisting mentally ill Bush to White House. Republicans did not seem to have had their fill with destroying America for last 8/11 years that they want to have a go at it again, now with a robber baron, Romney, - the grand larceney! This guy is slicker than Bush but is as contemptuous of ordinary Americans as Bush was. Vote for Romeny, and watch America descend into utter destruction 4 years later! Only 1% of 1% like Koch brothers will survive to boast about their billions! Republicans should follow Black-hole Bush's advice about not being fooled again. As of July of 2011, Obama has indicated "reams of papers and printouts on his desk" and yet has failed to introduce any enumerated spending plan to reduce the debt and deficits.

At this point in the nations spending history, the public debt has risen to over $ 9.75 trillion dollars.

In the latter part of 2010, and just prior to the 2010 election shellacking , Obama stated this: " Belief in Capitalism is blind faith, this philosophy of letting people fend for themselves has failed" ~President Barack Obama, October 2010

With your amazing memory, you probable know the foolwoing but are to ashamed a to admit it:

President Barack Obama, former editor of the Harvard Law Review, is no longer a "lawyer". He surrendered his license back in 2008 in order to escape charges he lied on his bar application. A "Voluntary Surrender" is not something where you decide "Gee, a license is not really something I need anymore, is it?" and forget to renew your license. No, a "Voluntary Surrender" is something you do when you've been accused of something, and you 'voluntarily surrender" your license five seconds before the state suspends you.

2 Michelle Obama "voluntarily surrendered" her law license in 1993. after a Federal Judge gave her the choice between surrendering her license or standing trial for Insurance fraud!

3. So, we have the first black President and First Lady - who don't actually have licenses to practice law. Facts.

Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, received five student draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the same number of deferments received by Vice President Dick Cheney, and later was disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager. Mr. Biden never mentions his asthma, recounting an active childhood, work as a lifeguard and football exploits in high school.

According to the documents, Mr. Biden, 65, received several deferments while he was an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University.

A month after undergoing a physical exam in April 1968, Mr. Biden received a Selective Service classification of 1-Y, meaning he was available for service only in the event of national emergency.

“As a result of a physical exam on April 5, 1968, Joe Biden was classified 1-Y and disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager,” said David Wade, a campaign spokesman.

Wasim Kahn:
Whatd about the cost Clinton incurred before the Iraq war?

The U.S.-led coalition in Iraq dropped far more bombs during the sunset of Bill Clinton's presidency than under President George W. Bush in the run-up to war in Iraq..

Between 1999 and 2001, the U.S. and British-led air forces in Iraq dropped 1.3 million pounds of bombs in response to purported violations of the no-fly zones and anti-aircraft fire from Saddam Hussein.

The details of the bombings, provided by the British ministry of defense to parliament in February 2002, markedly revise a picture painted by critics of Bush's airstrikes

At the conclusion of the NATO bombing campaign (instigated, like the bombing of Afghanistan and the War on Iraq, by the United States and Britain, and planned and carried out by then General Wesley Clark) several thousand Yugoslavs had been killed, about 1600 of them civilians. Not a single NATO soldier died in action. As with the Gulf "War", this was not a war but a campaign of destruction and murder carried out from a safe distance (and under the hypocritical pretence of conducting a "humanitarian war"). It was in fact a terrorist campaign directed against the Serb people and its political leadership.

WASIM KAHN:

OBAMA INCREASED THE DEBT MORE THAN BUSH DID

When Barack Obama took the oath of office twice on Jan. 20, 2009, CBS' amazing number cruncher Mark Knoller reports, the national debt was $10,626,000,000,000.

That means the debt that our federal government owes a whole lot of somebodies including China has increased $4,247,000,000,000 in just 945 days. That's the fastest increase under any president ever.

Remember the day the Democrat promised to close the embarrassing Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility within one year? That day the national debt increased $4,247,000,000. And each day since that the facility hasn't been closed.

Same for the day in 2009 when Obama flew all the way out to Denver to sign the $787 billion stimulus bill that was going to hold national unemployment beneath 8% instead of the 9.1% we got today anyway? Another $4,247,000,000 that day. And every day since, even Obama golfing and vacation days

Obama is saying yes, we can get control of the national debt. But ominously every time he says that he adds that trillions of dollars in infrastructure repairs are badly needed across the country. And with interest rates so low, according to the thinking on Obama's planet, now is an excellent time to borrow even more money.

So, it looks like not too long before Americans learn what comes after 1,000 trillions.

It's quadrillion.

Many leftists view Hillary as a sell-out because she claims to hold moderate views on some issues. However, Hillary is simply following Alinsky’s counsel to DO and SAY whatever it takes to GAIN POWER.

Barack Obama is also an Alinskyite. Trained by Alinsky’s Industrial Areas Foundation, Obama spent years teaching workshops on the Alinsky method. In 1985 he began a four-year stint as a community organizer in Chicago, working for an Alinskyite group called the Developing Communities Project. Later, he worked with ACORN and its offshoot Project Vote, both creations of the Alinsky network. Maude Hurd is current President of ACORN.

I guess the democrats wanted war with Iraq more than G. Bush did:

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002-Truth!

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..."

WHY DID THEY PUT THEIR LAW DEGREES IN INACTIVE STATUS?? you don't mention that.

Barry still could not get a real job, because he was still a fraud, even with his Harvard degree in hand he could lie and take the Bar exam, but he could not work as a lawyer for a major law firm without a back ground investigation and he would never pass one.
Since Barack Obama fraudulently applied to the Illinois Bar. Obama had 17 unpaid parking tickets from his days at Harvard. Obama omitted his aliases of Barry Soetoro and Barry Obama. Obama admitted to drug use when he was younger and there is strong reason to believe he was still using drugs

So, Michelle got Barry a job at her law firm. Barry never filed a case alone and never filed a motion. He wrote lots of memos according to the law firm where Barry worked. (I think they know Barry is a fraud and don't want to be sued by previous clients) Barry rescinded his law licenses, so as not to be disbarred for fraud. The Bar knows Barry lied on his application. Michelle also had to turn over her law license for her involvement in corruption with the Chicago mayors office. "

Over all, Mr. Romney’s chances of winning the Electoral College improved somewhat in Saturday’s forecast, to 32.6 percent from 30.9 percent on Friday, according to the model.

One reason for Mr. Romney’s improvement — in addition to his strong Missouri poll-- was that we went back and double-checked our polling database for cases in which polling firms had reported both registered voter and likely voter results within the same survey release.

After seeing g's comments and lists of presidential errors, crimes and misdemeanors I did some searching myself. I found those "facts" and theories pretty quickly, and I'm pretty sure I know why they seem irrefutable, but I'm not sure you do. As an experiment do any google search on your regular computer, any one at all. Write down or print the results. Now go to a library computer and do the exact same search. You will find the results are markedly different.

Why? Because search engines taylor your results to please you. They want your to get the results that meet your expectations. The result, each of us can end up living in our own little bubbles of particular "world view". Our own thoughts and predictions are constantly reinforced by the very sources of our information. It's the same with the news we watch and read, our own views seem irrefutable, because that's what makes us happy customers. If you don't know this it's easy to drift away from actual reality.

P.s. it's not just a conservative thing, it happens to everyone..

Here are some facts you need to chew on. You paid less than $7K in property taxes, while having at least one kid in our school at a cost of at least $12K. Thus again you and your family are essentially on the public dole, so to speak. I on the other hand, paid over twice that amount (over $15K) and have had no kids in our public schools in over 10 years. Tom,

Once again you demonstrate your profound ignorance by posting a generic "misdemeanor" reference that a five year old could have found using Sony PSP. A little more mental effort would had led you to discover in NJ, misdemeanors are called petty offenses and are punishable by a maximum 30 day jail sentence, a fine, or both. In my case the judge levied a fine.

It's not like I served a year in jail for federal income tax evasion or served two years probation for violently assaulting a public employee on school property along the lines of GOP bretheren you associate with.

Do I want to spend the time verifying the slew of "Facts" you posted, no really. It's not the truthfulness of the ponderous lists you post, it's the relevance. More than that it's the dubious reasons you slip into the conversation.

Take the law licenses, what proof do you have or can fid that the Obamas suspended their licenses due to pending disciplinary action? It's common for lawyers to go to an "inactive" status when they plan to not practice for a while, I don't know why they do that but they do. Probably to avoid having to pay annual fees or something. The President went "inactive" when he began to run for President and then changed his status to "retired" when he was elected. There's no reason to suspect any malfeasance here.

However if you are one of the people who received a particular email about 3 years ago, which continues to circulate, accusing both obamas of changing their statuses to avoid criminal proceedings, then dude, you've been duped.

Through the fog of the debt limit negotiations, President Obama has attempted to shift the blame for America’s deficit crisis to politicians at large, claiming that “neither party is blameless for the decisions that led to this problem.” Though the culture of overspending is endemic in Washington, don’t let the President fool you—some are a lot more guilty than others.

The fact is that Obama’s budget would set America on a dangerous fiscal course that leads to massive deficits well into the future—hitting $1.2 trillion in 2012 and, after dipping slightly, rising back to $1.2 trillion again by 2021.

As analyzed by the Congressional Budget Office, even after the massive tax hikes included in Obama’s budget, federal deficits total $9.5 trillion. In other words, under his budget, the President would more than double the national debt in just 10 years. Simply put, Obama’s budget (which didn’t even win the support of his own party in the United States Senate) would push America over a fiscal cliff.

KMN- More proof:

MORE PROOF,

Hmmm... lets see who is really using their head here. First off on several posts you keep calling Obama a Muslim, and while his name may sound perplexing to your bigot ears, he is, as we all know, a Christian. So whatever he is trying "turn" this county in to, I doubt it is a Muslim Republic or theocracy as you claim.

You also state above, "Most black people are voting for him because of race nothing more, they have already told me." Most black people have told you that? You have heard it from them personally as you claim? Lets take a look at some numbers here. There are approximately 38,929,319 black people in the US according to the most recent census, or about 12.6 % of the population. Now since most means a majority, we will divide that number in half, 19,464,659.5 and then add one, so 19,464,660 (ok we added 1.5 in all honesty, but hey that helps your argument). So, if you are to be believed above, you have personally heard from 19,464,662 people that they are voting for Obama! And, that their only reason for doing so is because he is black! Well sir, I don't know where you find the time to make all those phone calls or personal visits, but congrats on the hard work.

Oh wait, you didn't talk to all those people? Right because doing so would be an impossibility right? You were just using a figure of speech based upon your opinion and not fact, I got it. So in essence you were talking out of your ass, nice work sir.

Dan Grant wrote:"Why else would someone, as was asked here, want his college transcripts from 30 years ago "

Here's why:

If anyone should have questions about Obama’s record at Columbia University, it’s me, Wayne Allyn Root, we both graduated (according to Obama) Columbia University, Class of ’83. We were both (according to Obama) Pre-Law and Political Science majors. And I thought I knew most everyone at Columbia. I certainly thought I’d heard of all of my fellow Political Science majors. But not Obama (or as he was known then- Barry Soetoro). I never met him. Never saw him. Never even heard of him. And none of the classmates that I knew at Columbia have ever met him, saw him, or heard of him.

Wall Street Journal reported in 2008 that Fox News randomly called 400 of our Columbia classmates and never found one who had ever met Obama.

Now all of this mystery could be easily and instantly dismissed if Obama released his Columbia transcripts to the media. But even after serving as President for 3 1/2 years he refuses to unseal his college records. Shouldn’t the media be as relentless in pursuit of Obama’s records as Romney’s? Shouldn’t they be digging into Obama’s past–beyond what he has written about himself–with the same boundless enthusiasm as Mitt’s?

In high school, Obama, according to his yearbook photo, was part of the "Choom Gang." Chooming was Hawaiian slang for smoking pot.

the following are Obama documents that we, the people, have just never gotten a look at due to Obama’s decision not to let us look.

Sure, there’s (1) the original, long-form 1961 Hawaiian birth certificate. Then there’s:

2) Marriage license between Obama’s father (Barak Sr.) and mother (Stanley Ann Dunham) — not found, not released
3) Obama’s baptism records — sealed
4) Obama’s adoption records — sealed
5) Records of Obama’s and his mother’s repatriation as US citizens on return from Indonesia — not found, not released
6) Name change (Barry Sotero to Barack Hussein Obama) records — not found, not released
7) Noelani Elementary School (Hawaii) — not released
8) Punahou School financial aid or school records — not released
9) Occidental College financial aid records — not released. (These records were, however, subpoenaed but Obama lawyers succeeded in quashing the subpoena in court. No other Occi records have been released.)
10) Columbia College records — not released
11) Columbia senior thesis — not released
12) Harvard Law School records (not mentioned below, but not released)
13) Obama’s law client list — sealed
14) Obama’s files from career as an Illinois State Senator — sealed
15) Obama’s record with Illinois State Bar Association — sealed
16) Obama’s medical records — not released
17) Obama’s passport records — not released

This is truly a double standard which is only practiced by liberals

President Kennedy proposed across-the-board tax rate reductions that reduced the top tax rate from more than 90 percent down to 70 percent. What happened? Tax revenues climbed from $94 billion in 1961 to $153 billion in 1968, an increase of 62 percent (33 percent after adjusting for inflation).

What Democrats are doing – deceitful liars that they are – is giving Americans “tax credits” and calling them “tax cuts.”

A tax cut is a reduction in the percentage or amount of taxes that is being imposed on a citizen. The government is cutting the amount it had been collecting from taxpayers. A government cannot “cut” a citizen’s taxes unless that citizen had been paying taxes in the first place.

A tax credit is when you give someone money that has been collected from another taxpayer. It is redistribution of wealth. It is what Karl Marx described as “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” Do you notice that “to” in the middle? It means, “transferring the wealth from one government-penalized group of people TO another government-privileged group of people.”

It is what Obama described as “spreading the wealth around.”

WHAT HAS OBAMA DONE FOR BLACKS:

As African-American unemployment remains at over 15 percent, the Black community questions whether placing hopes on Obama was a mistake.

While the US marks Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the African-American community is knee-deep in an economic nightmare.

“There is no question that black America is worse off than it has been in at least the last 30 years,” said Glen Ford, the executive editor of the Black Agenda Report.

The official unemployment rate for African-Americans has been hovering at around 16 percent for the last year.

“Number one in high unemployment, number one in home foreclosures and number one in populating the prisons of our country,” explained renowned civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson.

New York’s Harlem neighborhood is one of the places that celebrated the most, when Barack Obama stepped into the White House. But two years into the presidency, the cracks in the dream for a better life have become too wide to hide.

Extreme unemployment with resulting poverty has created a pandemic of millions who need to be helped within black America.

“It has been a nightmare looking for work,” an unemployed African-American woman commented.

No Truscha, this is all based on fact. What one good thing did this moron you call a pres. do for this country that has made peoples lives better? We're going into another recession, unemployment is still above 8%, we're paying more taxes, wasted 800 Billion in stimulus, didn't produce hardly any meaningful jobs and a 1 Trillion dollar deficit for 5 years in a row. His plan is really working isn't it.

Hasn't attended a briefing in over a year, hasn't met with jobs council in more than 6 months, but he did attend over 110 fundraisers and played 10 rounds of golf so he has revealed his true priorities really are. Instead of fighting for jobs for Americans he is fighting for his own right now, while 23 millionAmericans are fighting for work. Oh sure he is really doing a wonderful job and the economy has really picked under him like he said it would. He was going to millions of Americans back to work or as he said " He didn't deserve another term". His words not mine! So Truscha why don't you keep telling us how good he is doing and how many millions of jobs he has created.

You haven't stated any facts Paul.

1. What defines a recession Paul? Do you even know? How about 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP? Has that happen lately, Paul? How about you STFU until you know what you are talking about?

2. What "more" taxes are we paying Paul? The president has cut income and payroll taxes multiple times since he's been in office. He has taken heat from liberal for extending the Bush tax cuts for two years. SO WHAT SPECIFIC TAXES HAS THE PRESIDENT RAISED THAT YOU ARE NOW PAYING?

3. The stimulus didn't produce any jobs. Here is a CBO report that says otherwise. Do you have a degree in economics and thus can better inform us? If not, again STFU! http://www.cbo.gov/publication/25099

4. 4.5 million jobs in the past 26 months. Are we where we want to be? Of course not. Is there more work to do? Absolutely! But it's a hell of a lot better than losing 4 million jobs in the last months of a term, an honor only GWB can lay claim.

Now with respect to your moronic comment on jobs, the numbers are easily verifiable via the BLS website.

http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.toc.htm

There is no evidence that remotely suggest the BLS includes people whose have lost their unemployment benefits as having a job, when they remain unemployed. If you have evidence indicating otherwise, I am sure everyone here would love to see it. Until then you really do need to STFU! And yes, I am talking to you Paul.

Just how are minorities (the very ones democrats claim to want to help) faring under the current regime? Not really well.

The unemployment rate for African Americans has jumped to 14.4%

There are 780,000 more unemployed woman today than when President Obama took office

The unemployment rate for Hispanic Americans is 11.1%

If this is the change Obama promised, VOTE FOR OBAMA

Did you really want to go there? George W. Bush was well-known for occasional problems with language, often including mispronouncing words.

1. Added a syllable to words. One of George W. Bush's most common ways to mispronounce a word is to insert an unnecessary syllable into the word. This is also one of the most common ways people make fun of the president. Famous examples of President Bush adding extra syllables to words include "misunderestimate," "hispanically" and "subliminable."

2. Removed a syllable. This method of mispronouncing words is a less common mistake by George W. Bush. However, there are examples of him doing it and you can still use it to make people laugh. An example from a President Bush quote is saying "unceptable" instead of "unacceptable."

3. Made words plural which should not be plural. Another of George W. Bush's most famous mispronunciations is using the word "Internets" in a debate. Simply saying "Internets" will cause many people to think of President Bush.

4. Mispronounced words dealing with foreign policy. One of the topics George W. Bush discusses most frequently is foreign policy, so several of his most famous mispronunciations are in this area. Examples include pronouncing the word nuclear "new-cue-ler," the word terror like the word "tear" and the word terrorist like "tearist."

You walked right into that one, pal! LOL!

My favorite Obama display of his intellect:

Special Olympics insensitivity: The President called and apologized to the head of the Special Olympics, after making this insensitive comment following a game of bowling: “No, no. GiGi this is just for you and KMN

Obama's greatest gaffe:

"I had a uncle who was one of the, who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps," Obama said, slowly and methodically. "And the story in my family is that when he came home, he just went into the attic, and he didn't leave the house for six months. Alright? Now, obviously something had affected him deeply, but at the time, there just weren't the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain."

That may be a fact, the RNC noted gleefully -- but only if Obama's uncle served in the Red Army of Joseph Stalin, which liberated Auschwitz Jan. 27, 1945.

I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go." --at a campaign event in Beaverton, Oregon

"It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There's a lot of -- I don't know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing." --confusing German for "Austrian," a language which does not exist, Strasbourg, France, April 6, 2009

Look at the map: Not only does Obama not know how many states there are, he also doesn’t know where they are. During the 2008 primary campaign, he explained why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” Obama’s home state of Illinois, and not Arkansas, shares a border with Kentucky.

KMN;
I hope you don't think I forgot you on purpose, I didn't:

So here are a few gaffes by Obama just for you:

No wonder so many Americans are unsure of the President’s faith, as he seems to be confused himself. During the 2008 campaign, during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Obama said, “What I was suggesting—you're absolutely right that Joh n McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith,” before Stephanopoulos jumped in to help, saying ''your Christian faith.”

Health care inefficiencies: During the health care debate, President Obama explained all the benefits of ObamaCare, saying, “The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system.”

Mr. President, we already have enough inefficiency in health care and, yes, your “reforms” will only make it

More Obamaism,

Obama has as much trouble with numbers as he has with maps. Last March, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Ala., he claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement: “There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala., because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”

Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965.

Another Obamaism:

Obama pleaded ignorance of the decades-old, multibillion-dollar massive Hanford nuclear-waste cleanup: “Here’s something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I’m not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I’ll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport.”

a staffer reminded him, during the ride, that he’s voted on at least one defense-authorization bill that addressed the “costs, schedules, and technical issues” dealing with the nation’s most contaminated nuclear-waste site.

Report: Chinese Companies Building America’s Bridges

ABC News reports that US roads and bridges are being built or rebuilt, not by any of the millions of Americans out of work, but by Chinese companies using Chinese workers. One project alone was worth more than $7 billion and could have created 3,000 American jobs.

The companies are owned by the Chinese government, which among other things means they don’t pay their workers as much as American workers make. There’s a suggestion in that, that the unions have priced US companies out of these jobs, but ABC doesn’t follow up on that possibility.
