The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Somerset Patriots 3-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.
The Patriots got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning after Freddy Sandoval doubled and scored on an RBI single by Johnny Drennen.
Lancaster answered right back the following inning on an RBI double by Jaime Pedroza. Pedroza later came around to score after Adam Godwin hit into a double play to give the Barnstormers a 2-1 lead.
The Barnstormers added to their lead after Tommy Everidge hit an RBI single to third base to plate Godwin for the 3-1 final.
Lancaster starter Alan Johnson (3-3) got the win after allowing a run in five innings of work. Somerset starter Justin Cassel (1-5) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits in 7.1 innings pitched. Tim Hamulack picked up his eighth save of the season after retiring the Patriots in order to end the game.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season will continue at home on Wednesday night when the Patriots take on the Barnstormers at 7:05 p.m. The game includes Baseball Bingo and Middlesex County Teacher Appreciation Night.
