How did you hear about roller derby? How did you get involved?
I actually got 'picked up' at the Grasshopper in Morristown. A girl came up to me as I was leaving the bar and said I looked like I should play derby and gave me the JDB's captain's email. I wasn't really sure what derby was honestly but I figured I should check it out!

What does your derby name say about you?
Mostly that I am a nerd. It's a play off of the name River Tam from the awesome and sadly canceled scifi show Firefly. River Tam is what I hope to embody at derby -- strong, clever and sometimes a bit crazy.

What is your favorite position and why?
B2 -- the outside blocker. I like to be able to work throughout the pack to be a constant annoyance to the jammer. Plus, even though I love strategy, sometimes you just need to hit someone.

Did you ever get any gnarly bruises? How?
I have a great one from our first game this season. Not sure what actually happened but it looks like someone skated up my shin.

What do you want the people of Morris County to know about the sport?
If you've never heard of roller derby or if you were a fan back in the day, you need to come check it out now. It is such an amazing experience and I can't imagine my life without it!
