Video: Deadly Woodland Road Fire, Aftermath
All is quiet two days after fatal fire destroys home and kills resident.
What is left of the house stands quiet now. Caution tape remains, roping the area off from onlookers. But the street is empty now. A far cry from the overnight cacaphony of heavy equipment and rushed movement that punctuated the fire fighting at 59 Woodland Road on Monday morning.
Ice on the lawn, and exposed gas pipe that was hurriedly shut off and a mud dampened yard show signs of the great struggle that took place here.
A struggle that, despite everyone's best efforts, was lost. Resident John Beck perished in the fire, which was ruled accidental and all that remains on the site now is a shell of the home. And while the mark on the landscape is only temporary, the mark in the minds of those who were here on April 2, will remain for a long time.
