Two Pedestrians Struck By Car in Mendham Borough
Pair hit while using the cross walk in the Kings parking lot.
Two pedestrians were struck in the crosswalk of the Kings Supermarket parking lot in the twilight hours of April 23.
Mendham Borough Police responded to the call at 86 East Main Street just before 8 p.m. and confirmed that there was an accident and that two pedestrians were struck.
A late model Mercedes SUV was parked in the crosswalk and officers were speaking with someone near the vehicle.
Police, fire and EMS all responded to the call and a second ambulance was brought to the scene and both injured parties were taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital for treatment.
A few onlookers stood by, seemingly shell shocked and left quickly after giving statements to police. One patrolman removed a bag of groceries from the crosswalk. Another helped load the ambulance.
Police declined to comment on the nature of the accident, the name of the driver, or if charges were pending as it is all part of an ongoing investigation. They also declined to give the names or descriptions of the pair struck by the vehicle due to their patient status.
This story is developing and we will have more updates as they come in.

It seems Neil the out-of-towners were the pedestrians in the cross walk! The Mendham resident was behind the wheel and cited for careless driving. both parties were not classified as "seriously hurt" but that is all the information available at this time.

Lisa, I will say it sort of shook my faith in crosswalks a bit...
