Tell Us: What Does Patch Taste Like?
We are commissioning a Patch cupcake and we want you to help us pick the flavors.
As Will Ferrell's Harry Caray might say, "If you were a cupcake, would you eat yourself? I know I would."
Fresh off their Cupcake Wars championship, the Sweet Spot Bake Shoppe in Chester is following up their phenomenal week with a new challenge: create a Patch cupcake.
So what does hyperlocal community news taste like? We want our readers to help us figure out what that is.
Is it a light and airy vanilla cake for the softer local news, but filled with a richer more substantive filling?
Maybe its a denser cake full of different ingredients and adornments to match the bells and whistles of the electronic age?
We have our ideas, Sweet Spot owner Cheryl Burger has some too. We want to know YOURS.
Nominate as many different flavor combinations as you want in the comments below!
We'll put the final nominations to a vote for readers next week, and then let the Sweet Spot do their magic.
Thanks for participating!

Without a doubt, to me, Long Valley Patch should have a pumpkin cupcake with sweet cream frosting representing them. Giving nod to our pick your own farms, who are never more active than the fall pumpkin picking months and the creamery which is another popular attraction.

Great idea, L. Mc! And since we're spreading this out between both Long Valley and Mendham-Chester sites, we can't forget about Alstede and Stoney Brook in Chester, among the many other offerings in the region. Great thinking, and thanks for the comment!

Probably anchovy as the base with a hint of licorice and lots of oregano, all suffused in mescal. Peppermint sprinkles.

I agree with the pumpkin... maybe with a spiced chai tea or apple cider buttercream!

Whatever they come up with, it should probably contain vinegar to represent the raging vitriol that nearly every Patch article seems to elicit.

It should be pistachio, cherry! Joan from Mendham

I was also thinking pistachio!! The logo of Patch is very green and it's all about local/being green. Perhaps a pumpkin filling and a cheesey creamy frosting to salute the creamery and the farms!!!!

I like Andrea's idea, sounds yummy! But with the Eagle on it in some way.

Something organic and earthy that would make the cupcake a daily dish, rather than a once-in-a-while treat.

How about a different cupcake for each season in the "Patch". Right now I'm craving a corn cupcake with a real butter, butter cream frosting.

It needs to be a combination of sweet and sour! The good news with the bad!

We stopped at The Sweet Spot on Monday on the way home from Morristown--forgetting that most stores are closed on Mon. in Chester. So my husband was by there again today and picked up 2 cupcakes. They weren't bad, however, they are about half the size of a regular cupcake and they're two bucks each!
