Well , today is the last day for me I guess. I'm one of 163 people left in mendham township who is supposed to be restored by today according to this erroneous spreadsheet . I'm quite sure that will not happen as my power lines snapped off my house and down the street there are lines lying in the road and telephone poles snapped in half. We haven't seen a truck yet. Someone needs to hold JCP&L s feet to the fire here and get some real answers. I think the Chester mayor has done a wonderful job of trying to do so. Maybe it's time to oust them from NJ. PSE&G seems to be doing a better job not only in the restoration process but also in communications with their customers. A Stewart

We'll wait and see, I guess. Although I'm not sure about these numbers as they've been revised previously, I would say the end is near.

I wonder how much emotional distress this has caused to families. I see therapist and tree cutters being the big winners here.

I am not hopeful....Benjamin Road in Chester is a total mess with downed trees, power lines, poles and wires down from houses to the poles..... and have not seen anyone in our neighborhood in 12 days to do anything. Access out of our street was completely blocked until a group of neighbors chainsawed ourselves out and moved debris to be able to drive out of our neighborhood, otherwise i believe we would still be unable to get out. I know the cleanup and restoration after the storm is a huge job and all of NJ is in similar or worse circumstances, but this is bordering on unbelievable and harder and harder to be patient.

12 days and still counting . . . . trying to figure out why Chester Township is still at 66% without power. Obviously we are last on the list compared to the surrounding areas. Why is this and not spread evenly?

When I looked at this spread sheet earlier in the week it said 52% of Chester Township was without power...now it says 66%?

Still no repair trucks on Rt. 24 going into Long Valley! How on earth can those merchants sustain another week of lost business?

Ok thirteen days now no power in chester township. This am no work crews seen. Need to know one thing with people having to clear their own street, and move power lines and flag as hazardous, where is jcpl? I hear the mayor has done a wonderful job... What has he done.... really not sure, anyone get information from his office, who should be labeling downed poles and lines? . Who should be clearing streets. Trees blocking entire roads on day 13. Really?

we had crews on our street all day from Duke Energy in north Carolina. they cleaned up the trees, put up new poles and we just got power back. I know they have a lot of truck here, so I hope they are coming to you next. good luck.

Ok...still no power in dogwood acres section. Saw crews working during day now theyre gone. I dont believe this is a 24/7 effort. The same thing happened yesterday. They will not restore everyone and they are not working at night.

Still no power on Cromwell Dr and no passage through Pleasant Hill. They cleared some of the mess last week but the tree guys told me they couldn't touch the huge oak blocking the road because JCP&L had to inform them if the wires were live or not. Why does it take more than a week to determine something like that. What about the people who are trapped between downed poles? Are they supposed to stay in their cold, dark homes with no running water? I was told that homes with wells are high up in priority which is obviously not the case as most in Chester Township have wells. I also do not think the mayor has done his job for the people of the township. No communication until after everyone had to go to town hall to vote? He probably heard an earful and realized how upset his constituents were because the next day we suddenly received a plethora of emails from him. As the leader he has no excuse for no contact...he could have emailed from anyone of the surrounding towns that didn't lose Internet. No excuse!

Don't you all feel like we're on Survivor?

Okay no power on Pleasant Hill Rd between the downed tree and power lines. Maybe we can get them here is if we make them pay for our extra expenses of gasoline, meals in restaurants and hotels. That might motivate them!

Gene- there is no accuracy to this list. Many of these streets have been restored for days.

Wow...we are going on 2 weeks without power and I have lost all hope of getting back in my house. Nothing has changed on my block. Four of the houses at the bottom of the cul de sac are essentially trapped. What if there was a fire? I remind myself every day that there are people who are worse off...that lost their houses completely to Sandy...and my heart goes out to them. But now that many do have power restored in Morris County, my little area of Chester is starting to feel like the Forgotten Zone. Is this really the best we can do in the year 2012? Really?

Mayor Davis/May Cogger and Councils - I just read in NJ Star-ledger that the Boro of Madison, 1 of 9 municipalities runs its OWN UTILITY and CREW, supplemented by requesting out of state help from the Public Power Assoc of NJ during times of crises. (You basically pay union rates and living costs for out of state help. Then those copmanies send workers and forgo any profit) This could be potential longer term solution that improves COMMUNICATION and local ACCOUNTABILITY which is sorely lacking. Make it a ONE Chester program. Talk to your friends in Madison TODAY. Urge residents to attend next council meetings and bring ideas/solutions.

Just a quick note here, folks: the next council meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday night, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building. The mayor and council will give you their undivided attention if you choose to go there and speak. I'll be there. So say hello if you go. :-)

What a con job. Still dark Pleasant Hill north of cemetery But according to the illustrious restoration document, we have juice as of yesterday.
Bonuses will be plentiful for the First Energy execs, nonetheless.

Ok so I just saw power company trucks for the first time since the storm. There were at least 30 trucks. The problem is they were sitting in the parking lot of Sams club in Mt Olive! This was at 5pm. I asked one of the guys if they were coming to Chester and he said no they had to drive to Hamberg to eat as someone at their headquarters set up a buffet. I asked if some shifts were working into the night and he said they work until 10pm so the JCP&L line about them working round the clock is a lie. By the time they drive to Hamberg and eat it will be 8pm until they are back at work then they quit at 10pm. I'm not blaming the line workers (they were great guys from Alabama and Kentucky) but blame management. Why send them an hour away for dinner?? It's basically a waste of valuable time. Time that could be spent restoring power. Oh and I asked one of the guys (they are all union) if it was true they turned away non union guys and he told me YES. He was ashamed as he said the storm is such a tragedy we should all pull together as Americans to help each other. Apparently the u ion bosses and some thugs feel differently. They put money before people who are freezing and without running water. How sad is that?

Absolutely abysmal job of scheduling. No wonder we are still without power! You can bet that after dinner they will figure out they don't have enough time to return so we are screwed once again. It's hard to believe these people actually run a huge corporation like JCP&L. I wonder if they ca even tie their shoes?

we were lucky to get power yesterday. but driving up 206 tonight, I noticed that the west side of town was in the dark. so disheartening. on the positive side, there were about 2 dozen utility trucks in the shoprite parking lot. I pray that you all get power back soon. this has just beentoo long. and a big thank you to the out of state workers for helping us to get back on track.

about an hour ago, pleasant hill rd 3 houses north of the ironia/pleasant hill rd split have power from the roxbury side. I am house 1 past the split. lol.. so I still say I will be last to get power in all 3 townships... lol

Thanks for the updates Teri and MDL. I'm hoping against hope we have power soon. If we do we ca thank those nice Southern guys for coming up to help.

We got our power back this morning on Fox Chase Road. All thanks to Duke Energy from North Carolina but where was JCP&L?

Hundreds of employees from other states were sent back (rejected) because they were not part of Labor Union. I would love to have chat with the Labor Union to see if they are still without power 2 weeks after the storm. What a shame !!!
