Mendham Man Charged After Striking Pedestrian

Driver drove around a school bus and struck woman, Mendham Borough Police said.

A 62-year-old Mendham woman was pedestrian was struck on West Main Street in Mendham Borough Wednesday morning, Mendham Borough Police said.

According to police, the accident occured just before 9:15 a.m. at 1 West Main Street, in front of the Black Horse Pub and the Phoenix House.

Police said the accident occured when a 54-year-old Mendham man drove his Audi around a school bus and ran into the woman in the road.

"He didn't see her," said Mendham Borough Police Chief Pat Libertino.

The woman, whose identity was not released due to her patient status, was transported to the Morristown Medical Center by the Mendham First Aid Squad.

"She had some facial abrasions and was bleeding from the mouth," Libertino said. "But we haven't heard word of anything else from the hospital."

Libertino said the driver, who was uninjured, was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and careless driving.

The road was cleared for all traffic by 9:30 a.m. and the investigation is ongoing.
