Nine DWI arrests were made last month in Mendham Township, Lt. Vito Abrusci said.

Staten Island Woman Arrested for DWI With Minor in Vehicle

A 59-year-old Staten Island woman was charged with DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Mendham Road West on Sept. 10.

According to police, the woman was driving with a minor in the vehicle and showed signs of impairment and was administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. At the completion of the tests, the woman was placed under arrest and breath samples provided confirmed she was over the legal limit, police said. 

The driver was charged with DWI, reckless driving, failure to dim headlights and DWI with a minor in the vehicle, police said. 

According to police, the woman was released pending an appearance in Mendham Municipal Court.

Long Valley Woman Arrested on Mendham Road West for DWI

A Long Valley woman was arrested on Sept. 10 for DWI after a traffic stop on Mendham Road West, Mendham Township Police said.

According to police, officers smelled alcohol inside the vehicle and after administering field sobriety tests, placed the 47-year-old under arrest. Breath testing confirmed the driver was intoxicated and she was charged with DWI, reckless driving and maintenance of lamps pending a court appearance in Mendham Municipal Court, police said.

Califon Woman Arrested on Mendham Road West for DWI

Mendham Township Police arrested a Califon woman for DWI after pulling over her 2004 Honda on Mendham Road West on Sept. 10, police said.

According to police, officers detected the odor of alcohol coming from the interior of the vehicle and after administering field sobriety tests, placed the 23-year-old under arrest. Breath tests confirmed the driver was over the legal limit and she was issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving and maintenance of lamps. She was released pending an appearance in Mendham Municipal Court, police said.

Jersey City Man Arrested on Mendham Road East

A 31-year-old Jersey City man was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Mendham Road East on Sept. 15, police said.

According to police, officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle and after a search of the vehicle, placed the man under arrest. The driver was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintenance of lamps and having controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and was released pending an appearance in Mendham Municipal Court, police said.  

Speeding Pair Face Drug Charges After Stop on Calais Road

A 30-year-old Randolph man and his 23-year-old passenger from Succasunna were arrested on Sept. 18 following a motor vehicle stop on Calais Road, Mendham Township Police said.

When officers approached the driver of the 2005 Subaru, they were able to detect the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from inside, police said.

After a consent search and field sobriety tests, the driver and passenger were placed under arrest, police said.

According to police, both individuals were charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and the driver was additionally charged with DWI, reckless driving, speeding and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. 

Speeding Morris Plains Man Arrested for DWI with Minor in Car

A 32-year-old Morris Plains man was arrested on Sept. 22 after being stopped for speeding, police said. 

The officer was able to detect the odor of alcohol from the interior of the vehicle, police said.

According to police, after standardized field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest and charged with DWI, reckless driving, refusal to submit to chemical tests of his breath, speeding and DWI with a minor inside the vehicle. 

The 32-year-old was released pending an appearance in Mendham Municipal Court.

Chatham Teen Arrested after Speeding Stop on Cold Hill Road

An 18-year-old Chatham man faces drug charges after a speeding stop on Cold Hill Road, Mendham Township Police said. According to police, after stopping the teenager, officers were able to detect the odor of burnt marijuana and the driver exhibited signs of recent marijuana ingestion. 

After a field sobriety test, the teenager was arrested and evaluated by a drug recognition expert and issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving and speeding pending a court date at the Mendham Municipal Court, police said. 

Four Charged With Drug Offenses After Stop on Combs Hollow Road

On Sept. 26, Mendham Township Police stopped a 1997 Chevrolet on Combs Hollow Road after being able to detect the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle while traveling behind it, police said. 

According to police, the 24-year-old driver from Dover and his three passengers consented to search and then were all arrested and transported to Mendham Police Headquarters for evaluation.

All four individuals were charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and the driver was also charged with DUI, reckless driving and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. All individuals were released pending an appearance at the Mendham Municipal Court.

NYC Man Charged with DWI After Stop on Mendham Road East

A 47-year-old New York City resident was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on Mendham Road East on Sept. 26, Mendham Township Police said.

According to police, an officer was able to detect the smell of alcohol emitting from the interior of the vehicle.

After standardized field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest and issued summonses for DWI, refusal to submit to breath testing, reckless driving and unsafe lane change, police said.  

According to police, the driver was released and his charges will be heard at the Mendham Municipal Court.   

Mendham Borough, Chester Township and Chester Borough did not have stats available.
