Motor Vehicle Accident Ignites Car off 206
Accident at Route 206 and Furnace Road brings out police, emergency squad and fire department.
A silver Mercedes Benz sedan went off the road off route 206 near Furnace Road at a little before 12:30 a.m., Chester Township Police said.
The Chester EMS responded to the scene to treat the one person reported to be the driver of the Mercedes. The Chester Fire Department was dispatched to the scene after being alerted to smoke at the crash site, signaling a vehicle fire.
The fire was quickly extinguished. No lanes were closed due to the accident, and the car was off the roadway on the southbound side.
Police declined to comment on the condition or identity of the driver due to patient status.
Police also declined to speculate on the cause of the accident, as the investigation was ongoing.
