Par-Troy Back With a Bang at Little League World Series
Emil Matti connects on two home runs and DJ Pico hits one of his own in win over Oregon.
Parsippany's Par-Troy East All-Stars bounced back in the Little League World Series with a convincing 10-4 win Saturday night over the Northwest Region champs from Gresham, Ore.
Emil Matti was the star of the game, starting off with a home run over the left-field wall, and later hitting another homer and a double.
DJ Pico also connected on a home run.
Oregon didn't fold after PTLLE racked up a 5-0 lead, whittling that advantage down to one run. But Parsippany bats took command, and ultimately scored five more times, taking the score to 10-4.
This is a turnaround from Friday, when PTLLE fell to San Antonio, Texas, 5-2.
After bouncing back on Saturday, Parsippany advances to play again on Monday at 4 p.m. Par-Troy will face the loser of Sunday's game between the West and Southeast.
Pitcher Kyle Phillips—who had a strong relief performance Saturday—exceeded the 35-pitch limit and will not be available to pitch in the next game.
In other World Series news, Fairfield American (home of Fairfield Patch) came back from an opening-game loss with a commanding 12-0 win Saturday over the Midwest Region team.

Amazing playing boys! We were cheering you on here in Parsippany - so proud of all of you. To the coaches - you could not respresent Parsippany in a better light. Your positive attitudes and obvious love of the game is shining through all you do. Thank you for your dedication to PTE.

Maryland too... Just got a call from my mother congratulating the PTE All-Stars. She used to be a batting coach, so Mom knows the hard work that goes into this. She's so impressed by the boys, but also by the coaches.

Should point this out, The sportsmanship taught to these kids is undeniable.
Notice a simple thing like throwing around the horn after a strikeout,PTE does not do it is right back to the pitcher.Great Job Coaches !!!
You are teaching the boys more than you will ever know Sportsmanship and Respect

Mr. Dean - your observation is spot on. ALL of the parents on this team (not just the uniformed coaches) have taught these boys to show respect and play the game the right way. So, you're right. They don't throw the ball around the horn after striking out an opponent. They act like they've been there before. When a batter has a called strike on them - and the call is questionable - they don't glare back at the umpire or flip their bat. I appreciate your comment and your support of Par-Troy East.

Todd, Yes I noticed that as well it is great to see that show of gamemanship so consistently by the PTE young men. I do have a question maybe I can run into you tomorrow afternoon for an answer.
How would we be able to keep 10 to 12 youngsters together and playing thru the offseason as PTE has done. I am sure your cross town team has caught the fever thanks to the tenacity of this great team?

any team that made it to this point is a winner, so there are no losers......the boys are winners because they love to play baseball and they demonstrate it by their ability....and the parents and coaches are winners because they are the ones that got them this far with their encouragement and cheers.........congrats to all......

Congrats to PTE first off. I just had to comment though about the throwing around the horn remark. I have been watching baseball all of my life, my brothers in little league and even at the college level. Nnow I am watxhing my sons. I have never once heard throwing around the horn after a strikeout is unsportsmanlike. I asked my husband and he never heard that either. Where did that come from? If anything it gives the batter(s) time to get in position, in the dugout and batter's box. It also keeps your infield awake.

Throwing around the horn is not unsportsmanlike. It is commonplace. It is actually uncommon in baseball just to throw the ball back to the pitcher *unless there are runners on base). However, this team doesn't do it out of respect for opposing teams. Take a look at what "throwing around the horn" is. It is almost a celebration of a strikeout. How does the opposing batter feel when he or she sees it? So, this team has decided not to do it. They throw the ball back to the pitcher as if it were any other out. Touchdown celebrations in the NFL are commonplace - and not viewed as unsportsmanlike (unless they are taunting). However, running backs like Barry Sanders just handed the ball to the refs after scoring. Been there, done that. That was my point above. So, my comment was not to suggest that everyone else is doing something unsportsmanlike. They are not. I am just trying to point out that this team has a stoicism and respect that is not common. They celebrate as a team after a homer or a win, but otherwise just go about their business. For a group of 12 year-olds, that is something to admire.

Todd I agree, Your earlier comment didnt suggest unsportsmanlike behavior for the act of throwing around the horn.It is just nice to see the consistency of the Par Troy East Boys in all of their actions !!
Enjoy the Day It is well deserved !!

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I still don't view around the horn as a celebration though.
