Grade Your Town's Sandy Response

Assign a letter grade to the Mendhams and the Chesters for their work during the storm and the aftermath.

It's been over two weeks since Hurricane Sandy came ashore to wreak havoc on Mendham and Chester and the tri-state area as a whole. Now, the towns continue to get themselves back into a state of normalcy, we want to know how you would great your town's response to the storm.

We are going to leave out power restoration in the grade, as that was beyond the control of the governing bodies. But in terms of communication, shelters and warming stations, debris removal and road clearing what would be your town's grade?

Take our poll, and tell us in the comments if you think the township has been doing a good job in its emergency response.

my town's response was a non-response. "don't call us unless it's life or death" direct quote from our police. found out there was a warming/charging station 7 days after the storm from a neighbor. horrendous!

Mendham Township's shelter was a Godsend and the tireless work of all the volunteers was truly inspiring and exemplary. They provided comfort to hundreds in the chaos of Sandy. Makes one proud to live amongst such compassionate people.

Mendham Township is to be commended for being proactive in providing residents constant updated information on every storm-related topic imaginable. Town Hall relocated to our Emergency Services Building in order to be fully functional during the crisis. Steve Mountain, our Administrator, Elizabeth Rego and Beth Foley in the office were never annoyed with residents' constant phone calls for help or advice. Their kindness and understanding were evident throughout a very stressful time for all...they worked long hours, weekends, and always with a smile for all.
Kudos to our police and fire depts. As well who never missed a beat, and having the ESB open as a shelter was indeed a godsend jst to know it was there, even if you never used it...a smile, warm shower, cell charging station, bed, three meals a day, heat and light. I couldn't be more proud of my fellow citizens and all staff in Mendham Township.
