Cell Phone Use Crackdown Begins in Chester Boro

Increased enforcement to focus on Main Street and Route 206.

The problem if distracted driving and cell phone use without a hands free device is not one that the Chester Borough Police are taking lightly.

The Borough Police Department will be conduction heavy traffic enforcement for all cell phone violations through Feb. 5, according to Sgt. Dave Jara.

We will be paying special attention to Route 206 and Main Street," Jara said. "But we will be monitoring all borough roads."

According to Jara, the move is not a ticket blitz, but it is designed to help save lives.

"This detail is to deter, educate, and prevent motor vehicle accidents from occuring due to the use of a cell phone while driving," Jara said.

I assume that roadblocks will increase "the bottom line", problem is that the last time I saw that many roadblocks was in the WW2 movies depicting the German occupation of conquered countries.
