Trio of Alleged Drug Dealers Had Weapons in Car, Cops Say

Three Dover men charged with possession with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of weapons by Chester Township Police.

A trio of men from Dover were arrested for drug and weapons offenses after a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 last week, Chester Township Police said.

According to Lt. Thomas Williver,  Dover residents Alex Ledesma-Cabrera, 22, Carlos Moreno, 21, and Jorge Alarcon-Oliveras, 21, were arrested Jan. 23 after Cpl. Christopher Cavanagh detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Williver said further investigation led to all three men being charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a park, unlawful possession of a handgun, unlawful possession of a firearm with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of a weapon (knife).

Ledesma-Cabrera, the driver of the vehicle, was also issued summonses for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and for failure to use headlights when required, Williver said.

According to Williver, all three men were lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $150,000.00 bail each and are awaiting an appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
